RICHMOND
With K Automotive Motorsports holding the record for the
second most consecutive starts in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, it’s no
wonder that the team has had numerous solid runs at the Richmond International
Raceway. But there is still one
year that brings smiles and a lot of laughter to team owners, Bob and Kay
Keselowski. The
While the victory lane celebration
was certainly a highlight of the evening, the way that Kay Keselowski made it
from the spotters stand to victory lane brings roars of laughter from all the
team members.
“It was probably the only time
that I have ever felt like a dumb blonde,” said Kay. “Bob
ran such a great race all night and then when the checkered flag flew I just
couldn’t believe that we had won the race. Everyone
on the spotter’s stand wanted to make sure that I got to victory lane as
quickly as possible, but even though I had walked right through the cross over
gate before the race, I couldn’t seem to find it when it came time to get to
victory lane. Suddenly Wayne
Auton came over the radio and was spotting for me to try to get me to the
cross over gate. It was the most
embarrassing thing to have the series director trying to get you into victory
lane. I finally made it across
and over to the celebration, but to this day the team and Bob have not let me
forget the night that I needed my own spotter.”
Bob and Kay Keselowski have had the
opportunity to celebrate with their K Automotive team in victory lane nine
additional times as part of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The
team has made a total of nine starts at the Richmond International Raceway
competing in every NCTS event at the speedway since the series inception back
in 1995. In those nine starts K
Automotive has earned one win, three top five finishes and four top ten
finishes. The K Automotive team
will attempt their tenth consecutive Richmond start with their No. 29 K
Automotive Ford Thursday night at the Kroger 200 which will take the green
flag at 8:45pm ET and can be seen Live on Speed Channel.
